We pay homage to Australia’s original storytellers who remind us that storytelling is about deep listening. We recognise Australia’s First Nations Peoples for their ongoing connection to storytelling, country, culture, and community. We also respectfully acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we’re all situated and recognise that it was never ceded.

Astrid Empacher

My name is Astrid Empacher. I’m 25 years old and originally from Copenhagen, Denmark. For the past four months, I´ve been studying abroad at Swinburne University in Kuching, Malaysia as an exchange student. This June, I will completing my bachelor´s degree in Media Studies, after which I plan to spend around six months travelling across Southeast Asia.

I’m passionate about discovering new cultures and places, and I recharge mentally by hiking, playing sports, or hitting the gym.

My favourite part about being an exchange student in Kuching is the food or the welcoming and friendly people I’ve met.
