We pay homage to Australia’s original storytellers who remind us that storytelling is about deep listening. We recognise Australia’s First Nations Peoples for their ongoing connection to storytelling, country, culture, and community. We also respectfully acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we’re all situated and recognise that it was never ceded.

Tink’s poem

By Lidena Carr.

I go out to walk without you;

Feeling I have lost something.

Misplaced you.

Rambling was our thing;

To the dam wall.

Back and under the bridge.

I walk around the block today;

Like I am walking without a limb,

Like I left you carelessly somewhere.

One foot then the other;

Empty, we’re not plodding along together.

Around the featureless corner and back.

Everyone at home talks of a new dog,

About what breed would be best?

What colour do you like?

But how can you shop for a lover?

How can I find a new you?

I plod on in misery and miss you.

I walk to the river today;

The sun bright in my face

Shining on the bit of you I carry with me;

Good times are on my mind.

The river sparkles like the memories of us.

I get home, full, because you walked with me.
