By Shona Blake,
You have diamonds in your mouth
And we bleed every time you speak
Hearts beat too fast, consumed with stitching wounds
Biting down on an itch we cannot scratch
Tears stinging open wounds
salt and blood
And you speak of money?
And so you should, and so you should
You are consumed, doomed
What will history say?
But still you cut away
Diamonds slicing piece by glorious piece
And we the damned fall away
Are you happy now?
With your love? your money?
With time you could
And so you should and so you should
Are you still in your dreams?
Is there peace in that place?
Is there love?
Can you be true, can you?
When the one in the mirror looks back at you
and we the ravaged fall behind
And so we should, and so we should
You have diamonds in your mouth
And every time you speak
We bleed.
