We pay homage to Australia’s original storytellers who remind us that storytelling is about deep listening. We recognise Australia’s First Nations Peoples for their ongoing connection to storytelling, country, culture, and community. We also respectfully acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we’re all situated and recognise that it was never ceded.  

Michael Farrell

Michael Farrell was born in Bombala, NSW in 1965 and has lived in Melbourne since 1990 (Carlton since 2023). Recent publications include The Victoria Principle (2025), and Googlecholia (2022), both with Giramondo, as well as a chapter on 19th century poetry in The Cambridge Companion to Australian Poetry (2024). Awards include the 2018 Judith Wright Clalanthe Queensland Literary Award, for I Love Poetry (2017), and ABR’s 2012 Peter Porter Poetry Prize, for ‘Beautiful Mother’. Michael has a PhD from the University of Melbourne, and edits The Chalamet Review
