We pay homage to Australia’s original storytellers who remind us that storytelling is about deep listening. We recognise Australia’s First Nations Peoples for their ongoing connection to storytelling, country, culture, and community. We also respectfully acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we’re all situated and recognise that it was never ceded.

CJ Vallis

I write stories that might be true. At present I’m finishing a Masters in Creative Writing (among a zillion other projects). I have been published in SWAMP, Vertigo, Grieve Volume 7 (2019), and the UTS Writing Anthology, in which I won the 2019 UTS Writing Anthology prize. My microfiction was selected for inclusion in Spineless Wonders’ 2019 Microflix Awards. Recently I won first runner-up in the Byron Writers Festival annual Flash Your Fiction competition. I was invited to a Varuna residency to work on my novel in progress, ‘Lies they tell’. In my spare time, I lurk on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter @cjvallis.
