by Richard James Allen.
Do we have intelligent life on earth? Ask the trees.
They seem more reliable than human beings.
We have a tendency to believe anything we can think.
If I had been born Burt Bacharach,
I might have written songs with lyrics like,
‘Why do birds still believe in the sky?’
If I had been born Arthur Schopenhauer,
I might have written treatises that asked,
‘Is it their will or their faith that holds them aloft?’
If I had been born a tree,
I might have said,
‘Birds don’t fly, trees think’.
Do we have intelligent life on earth? Ask my wife.
‘Birds are thoughts,
ignore their chatter.’
