We pay homage to Australia’s original storytellers who remind us that storytelling is about deep listening. We recognise Australia’s First Nations Peoples for their ongoing connection to storytelling, country, culture, and community. We also respectfully acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we’re all situated and recognise that it was never ceded.

Marion Taffe

Marion Taffe grew up surrounded by history. As a teenager, she spent weekends in Edwardian costume, showing tourists around the living museum that was her family home. After a 20-year journalism career, she started writing her own stories. Her debut novel, By Her Hand, is coming out in March with HarperCollins Fourth Estate. Set in tenth century Mercia during the reign of Lady Æthelflæd, the novel explores women’s strength, rage and writing. It is a tribute to the women whose words and names have been lost to time.
