We pay homage to Australia’s original storytellers who remind us that storytelling is about deep listening. We recognise Australia’s First Nations Peoples for their ongoing connection to storytelling, country, culture, and community. We also respectfully acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we’re all situated and recognise that it was never ceded.

Umaima Syed

Introducing Umaima Syed, a second-year student at Swinburne University of Technology and a member of the Editing team here at Other Terrain. Umaima is pursuing a double degree in the Bachelor of Law/Arts, majoring in Professional and Creative Writing. Umaima has various interests in our world and those hidden away in the nooks and crannies of Libraries. She is an aspiring author and finds joy in reading works to help other authors bring out their voices in their pieces. She believes that an author’s voice makes a story – a thought she shares within her studies in law as well.
